Public Hearings & Comment Periods

The Commission welcomes and encourages public input on utility rate and siting cases and proposed rules and regulations. There are two ways for citizens to participate in the formal regulatory process. The first is to attend a public hearing. The second is to submit a comment during the open comment period. The comment period pertaining to the Kansas Gas Service rate increase request has ended.          
An order will be issued by February 25, 2019.

Kansas Gas Service has filed an application with the Kansas Corporation Commission requesting a $42.7 million net base rate increase. The requested increase would affect the portions of a customer's bill that relate to the delivery of natural gas, including the fixed monthly service charge and delivery charge. If approved, the average monthly bill for residential customers will increase $5.67 per month, an increase of 10 percent.

A public hearing on the proposed rate increase was held on October 4, 2018 in Topeka. Public comments were accepted through 5 p.m. CST on December 14, 2018. An order on the request will be issued no later than February 25, 2019.
